Case Study

Thanks to RIEDL Phasys, Galeazzi-Sant’Ambrogio Hospital achieves new standards of efficiency and reliability. Automation ensures faster, more traceable, and safer processes, freeing up resources and improving service quality in every ward.

The client

The Galeazzi-Sant’Ambrogio Hospital in Milan, the heart of the ‘MIND – Milano Innovation District,’ is where technology and medicine meet to create a cutting-edge healthcare model in Europe.

The facility combines the orthopedic excellence of IRCCS Galeazzi and the cardiovascular experience of Istituto Clinico Sant’Ambrogio, also housing important departments such as Neurosurgery and Bariatric Surgery.

The challenges

In a facility of this size, hospital logistics requires fast, traceable, and fully integrated processes, capable of responding to the needs of dozens of wards and hundreds of staff every day.

Ensuring the immediate availability of medications, minimizing errors, and optimizing workflows were fundamental objectives for maintaining clinical excellence and ensuring operational continuity.

The solution

The technological heart of the new hospital pharmacy is the automated RIEDL Phasys cabinet, designed to ensure precision, speed, and traceability in every phase of the process.

With a structure 20 meters long and meters high and two robotic grippers, RIEDL Phasys is capable of dispensing up to 1,400 packages per hour, managing continuous distribution flows through six main outputs and three service outputs.

The automatic loading, flanked by the semi-automatic one, can process up to 200 packages per hour, reading the expiry date in real-time to ensure maximum safety and compliance.

The benefits

RIEDL Phasys guarantees Galeazzi-Sant’Ambrogio Hospital a level of automation that combines efficiency, safety, and total control.
